Illustrator 27 crashes when loading

Hi There,

I have not been able to open illustrator since the last 2 updates, has anyone else had this issue?

Any advice would be appreciated. Crash log below:

We are sorry to hear about the crash. Would you mind restarting the machine and checking? If it doesn't help, would you mind trying the steps on this helpx article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/fix-crash-on-launch-issues.html)?

 

Also, it seems this crash report is generated by macOS crash reporter instead of Illustrator crash reporter. If you get Illustrator crash reporter on a crash, then would you mind submitting the crash report as suggested in this helpx article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/crash-next-steps.html)? This would help us investigate the crash.

Thanks for the advice Anshul, but unfortunately they did not work, I also cannot generate an illustrator crash log as illustrator immediately crashes when trying to open. If you know of another way to get one please let me know.

Thanks for getting back to me, @BAT555, and sharing the screenshot. As the Illsuatrtor Crash Reporter dialogue is not appearing, macOS may have changed an option to not show that. Would you mind following these steps to check if the preference to "Always show Crash Reporter dialog" is selected or not:

 

  • Cmd+click the Illustrator app icon > Right-click on "Illustrator 2023.app" > Choose Show Package Contents
  • Select Contents > Frameworks > AdobeCrashReporter.framework > Versions > A 
  • Double-click Adobe Crash Reporter.app (Red A app icon, not the black AdobeCrashReporter UNIX executable file).
  • Choose "Always show Crash Reporter dialog" and click Done.


Also, you may try providing Full Disk access & check if Illustrator 2023 folders have full permissions or not.

Hi Monika,

I resolved and removed any font issues and turned off my intego security software. It was during a busy time so I just went back to version 26.41 as that still works. So this is my first real attempt to fix the issue.

Solving font issues is a good idea.

Do you use font management? That might interfere as well, if not compatible.

 

Also: it's unfortunately usually necessary to ditch the old preferences and not migrate them. So you could try and reset the preferences (of the new version).
