Illustrator 28.6 on macOS 14.6.1 - Slow Performance

I am using Illustrator's latest build (28.6) on a 2019 Macbook (32GB RAM, 2TB SSD with only 600GB being used) running Sonoma (14.6.1) and it is completely unusable. Simply trying to zoom in on a not particularly complex file is giving me the beach ball of death. I uninstalled all of my CC apps and then uninstalled the CC app. Completely clean Illustrator build - no plug-ins, no preferences. I uninstalled Magnet and shut down Unclutter. I have had to force quit the app five times in a row. Somebody HELP!!!!

Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1 - I AM HAVING THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM! The thing is, my 2019 Mac was CLEAN, like clean-clean because I had it wiped with a clean OS installation by the Apple Store only three days before installing CC. This is clearly an Adobe issue that they refuse to take responsibility for. If their release doesn't play well with the newest version of one of the most popular OS in use, then they've failed us. There is SO much bloatware in the package now with all the AI "enhancements" they are forcing on everyone. I simply wanted to open four small vector files and combine them into one image, and it took me HOURS waiting for the beachball of death every time I wanted to move or transform a shape.

I followed all the instructions to streamline my workspace, tured off the expensive rendering, and am now working almost exclusively in outlines. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

A 2019 Mac is not that new. Please tell us the hardware specifications. I have a 2019 Mac as well. It has 32 GB of RAM and an i7, but as soon as I have for example a 3D object in the file, it just comes down to a crawl.

Anything else installed?

Proofpoint? Display Pilot?

Rectangle, Moom?

Hello @lindamosky,

We understand that technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind trying the suggestions shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-illustrator-performance.html) and letting us know if they help? Also, try restarting you computer in Safe Mode (https://adobe.ly/4cybi76) and running Illustrator under a different administrator account (https://adobe.ly/3M57kaZ) and share your observations.

If the problem persists, kindly check if Illustrator behaves this way with all files. If not, try copying the layers/objects to a new document and check if it helps.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Anubhav

There are problems with installed beta versions, if you have them please uninstall.

If that does not help, try to use the Cleaner tool:

I uninstalled Illustrator again, this time using TrashMe. I can simply not belive the amount of bloatware Adobe installs whenever you install an app. I had previously uninstalled all of the CC apps using Adobe's uninstaller which installed next to nothing. TrashMe found *dozens* of directories linked to Illustrator and then I found dozens of other directories linked to Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro. All in all, over 60,000 files in various directories for apps I had supposedly uninstalled.

After a clean install - no caches, preferences or anything else hiding in the Library - Illustrator is still running as though I'm using a zip drive as virtual RAM in 1998. Any tips????
