Illustrator 30.2.1 freezes when accessing fonts

With the latest update for Illustrator if I click on the filter tab in the Font Menu, Illustrator freezes for a few minutes. If I'm patient it will continue where I left off. This happens every time I access the filter tab to sort by characteristics (script, hand made, serif..etc) Anyone know of a way around this?

    Hello @Susie2017

Thanks for reaching out. Could you share more details, such as the exact versions of the OS/Illustrator installed, and a brief screen recording of the problem, so we can check this with the team?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

This is a screen shot of the menu. This is where it typically freezes. However, it does seem to be working better today.

The version of illustrator I use is 30.2.1

The functions of the fly-out filter tab in Illustrator’s font menu can work pretty slow depending on how many fonts are installed locally on the computer as well as how many have been added via Adobe Fonts. The "discover more" tab in the font menu can also be sluggish. I just prefer going to the Adobe Fonts web site and browsing for new fonts there.

Are you using any of the five filtering options in the upper right corner of the font menu? The options include Favorites, Recently Installed, Local Fonts, Fonts in the Document, and finally Adobe Fonts. Those options can greatly reduce the number of fonts the fly-out filter tab is having to organize.

How many fonts do you have installed?
