Illustrator 30.7 GPU Detection Issue — AMD Radeon RX 570

I’m experiencing a GPU detection issue in Adobe Illustrator 2026 version 30.7.0 on Windows 11.

My GPU is an AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB, with the following configuration:

  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 570 Series

  • VRAM: 4 GB

  • AMD Driver: 31.0.21925.1001

  • AMD Adrenalin Driver: 23.19.25.01

  • Windows 11 Pro 25H2

  • WDDM 3.1

  • Direct3D DDI: 12

  • DirectX Feature Level: 12_0

  • OpenGL: 4.6

  • System RAM: 32 GB

Windows and AMD Software detect the GPU correctly, and Adobe Photoshop 2026 also detects and uses the GPU normally.

However, in Illustrator 30.7.0, GPU Performance is disabled and Preferences shows:

Compatible GPU: Not Available

The Illustrator system report also shows:

GPU Info: [empty]

The AiSniffer log detects the RX 570 correctly, but reports:

<RendererType>DirectXRenderer</RendererType>
<Name>Radeon RX 570 Series</Name>
<AdapterRAM>4095</AdapterRAM>
<DriverVersion>31.0.21925.1001</DriverVersion>
<EnableGPU>true</EnableGPU>
<DriverSupportsDirectX>No</DriverSupportsDirectX>

This appears inconsistent with Windows DxDiag, which reports:

DDI Version: 12
D3D12_GRAPHICS
D3D12_CORE_COMPUTE
D3D12_GENERIC_ML
Feature Levels: 12_0, 11_1, 11_0...
Driver Model: WDDM 3.1

Important finding

I installed Illustrator 30.6 on the same system without changing the GPU, AMD driver, Windows installation, or hardware.

Illustrator 30.6 immediately detects and enables GPU Performance.

Therefore:

  • RX 570 hardware is functioning correctly.

  • AMD driver is functioning correctly.

  • DirectX 12 is available.

  • Photoshop can detect the GPU.

  • Illustrator 30.6 can detect the GPU.

  • Illustrator 30.7 cannot detect the GPU.

This strongly suggests a GPU compatibility/detection regression in Illustrator 30.7, specifically affecting the AMD Radeon RX 570/Polaris architecture or its DirectX capability detection.

Could Adobe please investigate why Illustrator 30.7 reports:

<DriverSupportsDirectX>No</DriverSupportsDirectX>

while Windows reports full D3D12 support and Illustrator 30.6 successfully enables GPU Performance on the exact same system?

Thank you.

    Hi Zealous_Brilliance8a1b,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble. Would you mind performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU(s) drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/3Swh2Ky) and checking if it helps?

Please also try manually resetting Illustrator's preferences by following the steps below, and let us know if that helps.

    For Windows
    - Close all Adobe applications.
    - Go to Location C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
    - Rename Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 28 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator - 28 Settings.old
    - Relaunch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud app.

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders in case you want to. The location is mentioned above.

    Thanks,

    Harshika

    Hi nysdezign,

Thank you for sharing the detailed findings and for testing Illustrator 30.6 and 30.7 on the same system. I understand how frustrating it must be to see GPU Performance working correctly in 30.6 but not in 30.7.

To help us investigate this further, could you please share the following files with us?

    1. AiSniffer file:

    • Close all Adobe applications.

    • Navigate to the Illustrator Preferences folder and copy the AiSniffer file to your desktop. For Illustrator 30.x, the folder should be under:
      %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 30 Settings\en_US\x64\

    2. MSInfo32 System Report:

    • Press Windows + R, type msinfo32, and click OK.

    • In Microsoft System Information, select File > Save (please do not use Export).

    • Save the report as msinfo32.nfo on your desktop. It may take a minute to generate.

Once done, kindly upload both files to Google Drive, Dropbox, or a similar service and share a publicly accessible link here or via DM so we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks,
    Abhishek
