Illustrator app on iPad not working

I am unable to browse through the fonts, it doesn't let me scroll. If i, for example, wanted to edit the spacing between letters of any text, it doesn't let me drag the bar to alter the text.  It's not letting me move objects around the canvas 

i either really don't know how to work illustrator or there is something wrong with the app, i am using illustrator on an iPad rather than desktop? Should this affect these features 

please help
