Illustrator artboard turned white and assets/layers are all lost

Hi,

 

This is happening for the second time. I made a design and was working on it. Both times it happened after I pressed Ctrl+z to reverse a change. Suddenly my artboards become white. At this point I can see the layers in the layer panel but when I click on any asset, there is the selection box but it is invisible. Color shown as white

I closed the file, reopned and now the layers are also gone. Last time I was able to recover the file as I did not save it and my old file was resocvered. This time I have lost my data!

    Do you have a backup?

    Do you have Time Machine or something similar running?

     

    First of all and independently from this project: come up woith a backup strategy. Now.

    You need to save your files. Make different versions. Save them in different locations.

     

    This behaviour is not normal. When was the last time you rebooted the computer and reset preferences? Doing it might be a good idea, but probably will not bring back your file.
