Hi there,

I have a layer where if I move a path into this group, then a a particular style is applied on top of the existing style automatically.. If I move the path to another layer, then that style is reverted back to what it was before.

I can't figure out what's doing it and how to turn it off. I tried to look for instructions online but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know what's happening here?

Thanks in advance

Correct answer Monika Gause

It's called targeting.

Here is a tutorial I made https://youtu.be/jMDpnI5i7M0

That layer has a layer effect applied.

Select the layer in the Layers panel and check the Appearance panel for a Layer item.

Double click that item and remove or disable the effect.
