Illustrator background white

My canvas background on Illustrator is white, or, when I turn on Transparency Grid, white/grey gridded. When I go into Artboard Options or Edit Artboard, the background is normal again (when I exit the menu it is back.) I do not know how to return it to the normal grey I have it as. I have searched for help and nothing has fixed it (it isn’t Overprint Preview). I have no idea what is going on.

Edit: I just figured it out. (After I’d just given up and posted my question!) I had to turn on Show Artboards in View. It’s always something stupid like that 😂
