Illustrator CC 2017 Times New Roman font not displaying properly

We are using Illustrator CC 2017 with Windows 10 x64. We have 3 computers just alike that use this software, but one of them has an issue in Illustrator. When we display type in Times New Roman regular font, it is very distorted. If we use any other application on this same computer and use TNR reg font, it displays fine. We have copied the versions of the font off the working 2 computers, and installed them on the problem computer, but it still does not work properly. Any help would be appreciated on this. Thank you.

Thanks for the information. Please try one more thing, toggle the GPU preview (Ctrl+E) or disable it in the preferences and check. Also confirm if you are using any font management application.

Om,

I did turn off the GPU preview but the problem still persists. I did confirm, no font management other than built in Windows.

Hi,

yes I've deleted both the folder and separately, the preference file (fontTemp.lst) itself but to no avail, the font is still distorted

Unfortunately I did follow those steps and deleted that file, but the problem still persists. I even deleted the fontTemp.lst file while is was there, but it did not change the problem either.

Thanks for the confirmation Mike. Please delete or rename the Illustrator preferences folder itself then relaunch it and check.

C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 21 Settings\en_US\ Delete or Rename this folder.

Hi,

I'm having the same issue and have folllowed the suggested steps of deleting the preferences folder and the fntlist file, but it did not solve the issue

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the screenshot and details. Please follow these steps: Close Illustrator then delete ''IllustratorFnt.lst'' file from illustrator Preferences and then launch Illustrator and check. Here's the path for the Preferences folder :

C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 21 Settings\en_US\x64

Please note "AppData" is a hidden folder by default. Do share the result.
