Illustrator cc 2018 not responding on my surface book after 10 minutes of use

I recently purchased a surface book to do all of my digital illustrations on for my university course. However every time that I launch Illustrator it works perfectly for about 10 - 15 minutes before becoming unresponsive so I have to exit it and start it back up again just for it to do the same thing 10 minutes later. I don't really experience a lag with the program when it is working and it is beautiful to draw on but if I can't fix this problem I'll have to take it back.

any advice?

As per you query Illustrator gets unresponsive after using it for 10-15 minutes. In order to solve the query we would need some more details like:

Graphic Card being used on system and when it was updated last?

Does this happen on some specific file or on new files as well?

Where the files are saved?

My surface book uses a NVIDIA graphics card but I am unsure of the last time it was updated.

This problem occurs on every file I have tried to work on both new and old, and a majority of these files are saved onto files on my desktop using my internal harddrive.
