Illustrator CC freezing my PC

I have had problems with Illustrator since the 27.5 update. I cant spend more than two minutes in an open document without my whole computer freezing. I can use Photoshop and CAD software without encountering the same problem. I have used Illustrator for 3 years on this computer without a problem. What should I do? I need the program to work on university projects. 

 

The computer freezes just by clicking on any tool in the toolbar. Does someone have the some problem?

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind trying to reset Illustrator's preferences by following the steps shared in this article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-preference-issues.html) and checking if it helps?
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with the defaults. You may save a backup of these settings from the location mentioned in the article.

 

Also, try performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-110) and share your observations.

    Do you have any periphreals attached to your computer, such as a graphics tablet?

    Not at the moment, but I have a Huion USB graphic tablet so the firmware is installed but the tablet is disconnected.

    Can you try and uninstall that tablet driver?

    Do you have. any third party plugins installed?

    Are all your fonts OK? Really?

    Do you use font management?

    Do you have a printer set up and turned on? If not, try and connect a printer and make sure that Illustrator can find it.
