Question

Illustrator CC wants to snap to everything, how to stop it?

No matter how many preferences and Window options I disable, Illustrator keeps snapping to something.

Points, Grids.... edges...? I don't know what it's snapping to but whenever I try and create an object my nodes simply will not land where I want them to.

The only way to avoid it seems to be to zoom into an unnecessarily high zoom level and then the 'snap to...(something).." behaviour stops.

But then of course you have to zoom out and back in to where you want your next node point to be.

It's ridiculous. Does anoyone know how to stop this?

Current version I'm running is  CC 22.1 but all versions for past last 2 years have been doing this and its infuriating.

(Running Imac OS 10.12.6 Sierra)

Hi Joel,

Sorry about this issue. Please try resetting preferences(How to set preferences in Illustrator ) for Illustrator and make sure all snapping options are unchecked.

Please note: Resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folder in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

Regards,

Srishti
