Illustrator CC19 Toolbar icons constantly moving !!

I've been using Adobe illustrator since illustrator88 !! and I always considered myself to be a really fast user. But this last change just flaws me.

I manage a team of 14 Full Creative Cloud licences and now spend too much time listening to expletives and being distracted with toolbar questions.

Personally, I'm stuck having to second guess where my key icons have gone to next.. that 3 dot bar below the left many helps, but I'm constantly stopped by loosing key tool. Can there be some consistency, not just random allocations. Who came up with this feature creep?

Also another gripe is the select tool just collects the whole object and not just the point I'm after to move. ( I'm probably missing some new unannounced preference setting ) I now have to use the lasso tool to select individual points then find another new tool - the reshape tool to move the point.  That then go back finding the previous tools that have now moved around or buried themselves away inside other tools, with what seems to be at random.

Are there any other Illustrator users out there finding this "feature" crippling.

The update should be flagged, yes. It was bugging me for about a month inside Illustrator before I updated. You shouldn't have had to reinstall either: the CC app will have a blue 'update' button next to Illustrator.

Thanks for all your suggestions, There was no Blue update button prompting an update from 23.01

but uninstalling the whole app and then reinstalling got the app updated to 23.02. + I replaced all the prefs

on the reinstall.  It all seems much more stable, so many thanks again for your quick support.

This should have been fixed with version 23.0.2. What version are you using?

We are on 23.0.1. All our Macintosh systems are still on High Sierra, so we are not getting any update prompts from Creative Cloud.

We will not move to Mojave as Apple still has yet to approve the Nvidia driver for all our Graphics cards to go beyond High Sierra

Have you tried resetting the preferences?

Would rolling back to an earlier version of Illustrator be a viable temporary "fix"? You can easily do this through the CC App and even have multiple versions installed simultaneously.
