Illustrator CC2020 [update 24.0.2] quits after saving/closing a file

It doesn't happen with all files, and I'm not losing any data, but several times a day, after saving and closing a file [either a new file or one that was opened for revisions], Illustrator will quit. I get no message saying it CRASHED, but the application will simply quit. I have no problem when re-launching and re-opening the file, but it's aggravating to close a file, go to open something else, and see that the application has to be re-launched.

It started doing this on the previous update, and this most recent update touted that it was correcting stability issues. Apparently it didn't.

I'm using the latest version and update of Illustrator 2020, on an iMac running OS High Sierra.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Please try resetting the preferences once and see if it helps. You may follow the instructions provided on help article

https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html#setting_illustrator_preferences

Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

One other thing you can try is to disable the GPU performance.

Let us know if these help.

Regards,

Ashutosh
