Illustrator changes colors in file when importing an image

Question

Everytime I import an image to Illustrator, it changes the colors of other images/ shapes in the document. They get a lot darker. The image itself stays the same color as it had before importing it. I tried importing different images to see if the image might be the problem but it looks like there is something wrong with the file. I checked my color settings and profiles: My document is in RGB, with settings: North America General Purpose 2. I am working in Illustrator 27.9.

Is there anyone who knows how I can fix this?

Is not possible to help without information of exactly the process you used and what you are experiencing.

How are you importing, are you copying and pasting or using place command
what are you importing? Vector items with CMYK or spot colors fills or maybe an RGB imge in a certain file format
Where is the change happening, are you previewing in some other app, and then looks different in Illustrator
Do you see any color warnings when you import

If your Illustrator document is RGB, than the RGB working space is important to match in lets me take a wild guess >> photoshop. You can use Bridge>> Edit Color Settings >> to synchronize all your apps to the same Color Settings.
