Hi All,

I would consider myself a power user and have never experienced this before.

A file is randomly changing one particular grouped vecor image into a lo-res jpeg. No idea why and noone else is working on it.

Anyone know how and why?

Thanks

Akhter

Hi Guys,

Thank you all for your help and here'sw the info about versions etc.

I'm running 19.2.1/2015.2.1 on an iMac27-inch late 2012 running 10.10.5 Yosemite.

Here is the original file where the illustration is being taken from:

WeTransfer

Here is the re-worked files using the the grouped vector which illustrator then decides to turn into a lo-res jpeg. Funnily the master doc where the file is taken from doesn't do this lo-res stuff and stays in-tact.

WeTransfer

Information within the files in copyrighted and not to be used for commercial means.

Thanks for your help.

Best

The one with the image is saved as Illustrator CS5.

Try to save the Master Illustration as CS5, you will get warnings about spot colors and transparency (unless you turned off the warnings) the result, when reopened will give you an image.

So don't just do a save, but make sure that you are saving as the latest version of the Illustrator file format.

Which version? Which system?

Which version has the file been created in?

Where is the file saved?

What exactly is in the file?

Transparency?

Has Illustrator crashed when saving that file?

Hi Monika,

Thanks so much for replying.

Its a file on my work Mac, were running 10.11 El-Capitan, latest version of CC, file is saved on a server.

Its an illustration of a building using gradients and transparencies. Not crashed no, just every time I replace the replaced lo-res jpeg image with the grouped vector from the master file and close the file and reopen, its been replaced once again with the lo-res (embedded) jpeg.

Hope that helps clarify the environment, do you think its a problem with the transparencies used?

Thanks

Akhter

As Monika has asked, what version exactly of AI are you using and to what version are you saving the file? Does it happen if you save and retrieve the file locally before working on it?
