Illustrator Closes for No Reason (while I'm working)

PLEASE HELP! This has been happening for MONTHS now… As if 2020 hasn’t been hard enough. 🙂 I’m working normally on Illustrator when it just closes.

Doesn’t matter what I’m doing - doesn’t happen when I’m doing anything specific.

  • Ai closes when I enter a group.
  • Ai closes when I’m editing text.
  • Ai closes when I haven’t saved.
  • Ai closes without warning.
  • Ai closes randomly.

I've uninstalled everything now and reinstalling all my Adobe Apps... Will let you know if it works. In the meantime: It’s driving me nuts, any help?!

Thanks guys! 🙂

In order to solve the crashing issue, you might want to tell us your system and version and hardware info.

Also: reboot the comouter, launch only Illustrator.

If you have less than 8 GB RAM, it probably won't work at all and with 8 GB of memory it won't work for more than simple objects.

You might want to reset the preferences.

Install a Studio driver for your graphic card.

Check whether your Wacom and its driver are compatible.

About your files:

Save early, save often, save different versions.

Get an additional harddisk, because that is cheaper than rebuilding your files.

Thanks Marlon. I tried everything... Reset the Preferences, made sure all older versions of Illustrator are uninstalled, restarted Mac, restarted Illustrator - problem still remains. I ran a Malware scan, nothing. The file I'm working on is only 35MB, a tiny file compared to what I usually work on. So I think the problem (only today) might be that file. Let's see.

Thanks for your help.
