You don't have to outline your type objects if you are using the Pathfinder Trap effect (see Effect menu) at the group level or – preferably – at the layer level.

IF you are on Windows, another thing you can try is placing the AI file into InDesign, the print to the Adobe PDF driver creating a trapped PDF.

It's a pretty good idea. But I have to outline text. I use stroke 'overprint' as a solution for this problem.

In both CMYK and Spot colors, I apply trapping by creating stroke for the lighter color objects then I use overprint stroke. Is there a script to do this?
