illustrator could partially read this file

When you open the illustration file,

The illustration can only read this file partially.
You have recovered as many files as possible, but some content may be missing. Open to view the recovered file.

This window pops up.
And I can't see more than 90% of the files I've worked on.

I have had been a heavy Illustrator user for many years now and I just started having this issue in the past 6 months or so. It has caused A LOT of grief and lost work. Is this a new problem? It seems that AI should give you some kind of warning that your file is corrupt or that there are potential problems with it ahead of time so you can troubleshoot, cleanup and/or save another version of the file before you close it so you don't lose you work entirely.

Hi @brandonantol1985,

 

Sorry about the trouble. We have tried to address this issue in our latest release, v26.0.2.

This build also contains fixes for stability, security, and some other reported issues. Please update the Illustrator and let us know if you are still getting this message while opening files.

I am sorry to hear about this experience. I would request you to share a few more details like:

  • OS and version of Illustrator
  • Are you using an M1-based mac device?
  • Is this happening with multiple files?
