Illustrator Could partially read this file

How can you open the file, currently it's like opening a pdf file.

What kind of file are you trying to open? Which application created it the file? This particular error window is getting displayed for several different situations.

The file was created in Illustrator hence the file type is .ai .

There are other graphics applications besides Illustrator that can export Illustrator .AI files. I've seen at least one of those applications export Illustrator .AI files that cause that error, but only if the .AI file has live type objects in it.

 

Which version of Illustrator was used to create the file?
