Illustrator crashes trying to open a .aid file.

So, I had an art piece that I was working on... The app then froze and crashed because the anchor points became locked in the same direction after using the smooth tool and attempting to make them independent points. This is a common crash I get, one that still has yet to be resolved. However, this is the second time this has happened, where it will automatically recover another document I had open for colors, but not create a working one for the one I was actively using. Very irritating to say the least. I don't have the complete crash log, but it did have "exception type: exc_bad_access (sigsegv)" as its cause. Again, guessing those anchor points resulted in an invalid action. Still, since I'm overly cautious with auto-recovery files, I created a copy of the recovered file and its folder contents in a different location, in case Illustrator would remove it (and it did, to no surprise). I was hoping there could be a way to fix the possible error in the file, because I do not want to lose three hours of progress over a crash caused by the ANCHOR points of all things. I'm incredibly frustrated by this happening frequently and want it to be resolved as soon as possible. I even enabled the ContentRecovery setting in the preferences with no luck. I've linked the files to Google Drive for those to try and fix it.

Hello @Yoshifan1219,

Thank you for sharing the file with us. Despite attempting to recover from the file, regrettably, there was nothing left to salvage. We understand this may not be the ideal outcome, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Could you confirm if the file was saved on a network, removable drive, or a cloud-synced folder like Google Drive or Dropbox? Storing files in such locations can sometimes lead to corruption issues. To prevent this from happening in the future, we recommend saving your work locally first and then manually copying it to your desired backup location.

Additionally, for help with crashes in Illustrator, please try the troubleshooting steps outlined in this help article (https://adobe.ly/4jQsoAF) to see if it helps.

To avoid similar situations in the future, we advise saving multiple copies of your active work locally or saving them as cloud documents.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or need assistance. We're here to help.
