Illustrator crashes when selecting "Character" window

I have tried multiple Illustrator versions on both my work desktop and laptop. Whenever I edit text and click the Character window, it freezes and closes. Has anyone else run into this issue as well?

Always with the same font? Or with different ones?

It has nothing to do with the font itself. It's only when I click on the Character window that everything freezes and crashes.

So you do not have a text object selected and still it crashes?

 

Did you already reboot the computer?

Did you already check all your fonts?

Do you use font management?

Do you have any plugins installed that change the font menu?
