Question

Illustrator crashing constantly with spotty internet

I am traveling abroad and working in a hotel with spotty internet. Here, Illustrator has started to constantly freeze. Each time I open the program, I am able to make only ~5 modifications to my 100 kb document before the freeze starts, so I have to move wisely. Most of the time there is no error message. A few times, it throws a message saying that it can’t connect to Creative Cloud to prove that I have a license. There is an option to "Try again," which makes the error box disappear for a few minutes before reappearing. Creative Cloud is logged in, although it was struggling at various points to reconnect. How can I ensure that I am able to continue to use the product that I pay too much for when I travel? (With Creative Cloud, Adobe is showing that it cares little about user experience and far more about people proving that they have a license on every single use.) Any effort on Adobe's part to create a more usable product would also be appreciated.

Hi there,

Monika is right, the Creative Cloud generally asks to sign in for license validation once in a month. If this is not the case at your end, let us help make this right.

In your initial post, you have mentioned two issues:

  1. Illustrator starts freezing after few minutes of working on it.
  2. Creative Cloud is asking to sign in multiple times.

Please try these steps for licensing issues: User and license information issues | CC 2019

Once that is resolved, for freezing issue please share a few more details like:

  • OS (Exact version of Windows/MAC)
  • Exact version of Illustrator
  • Where the files are saved(Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System /External HDD)
  • Disconnect your system from the internet and check if Illustrator works properly or not?

We’re here to help, just need more information.

Regards,

Srishti

It will only need to check your license once every 30 days.

I'm often travelling on the train with bad connection or none at all and that has never been an issue. I make sure that it has connection before I leave just in case it has to do it's monthly check.

How long have you been on the road? More than 30 days?

Do you need the online connection for other stuff such as saving your files?
