Illustrator crashing repeatedly on Mac

I have Sierra 10.12.4 and the latest version of Illustrator (Adobe Creative Cloud).

Illustrator crashed almost everytime I try to launch it, paste something into it, or import something.

The only "fix" that Adobe could provide was rebooting the computer but that was only a band-aid.

Is anyone else having these issues?

    Hi All,

The issue is resolved. I've been speaking to a technical advisor via webchat. The issue 'magically' resolved itself. I did nothing technical at all. Prior to the webchat, all I did was reinstall the app. The advisor was just asking basic questions about the problem. After I gave permission to screen share, he then suggested trying to open and save a document and everything was working fine.

There was no real answer as to why there was an issue but the advisor did say that it can take some time for the app to work after reinstalling. I think he was suggesting that it was a preferences issue.

Although, I'm not entirely confident that uninstalling and reinstalling actually solved the problem, it might be worth a go!

    Hope that helps!

    Hi all,

I'm having the same issue. I've just uninstalled (with removed prefs) and reinstalled. Nothing has worked. I can't open any document or save documents. It just freezes and says that the application isn't responding. It's a nightmare!

I've just followed that link to Customer Care and it's brought me straight back to the forums!

    Please help!

    Thanks,

    Ben

I second Monika. Please post this elsewhere and link. But have you tried the 10.12.5 update to Sierra?

Larry, Apple doesn't list an update to Sierra for my system, yet. Is there another place I could find it?

Please don't post this stuff here.

Post it on pastebin and then post a link here.

    And then: please call support:

    Contact Customer Care

They have to offer more than a restart.

They can login to your computer to find out what's going on.

Monika, I've given Adobe control of my computer twice and the only thing they could offer as a positive solution was a reboot.

My apologies for pasting in the error message, but I was hopeful that it might lead to a more positive insight.
