Hello,

Recently my illustrator CS5 has been crashing whenever I open it. It would be great if someone can help. Here are some more information:

(1) My OSX version is 10.12.5.

(2) I tried to uninstall and reinstall the creative suite (including the library files), but the problem is not resolved.

(3) Notable, only illustrator is having this issue, photoshop and other packages in the creative suit works fine.

(4) Below I paste the error message that is displayed every time:

Illustrator CS5 is not (fully) compatible with Sierra.

You should not have upgraded the system.

Some people claim they got it to work, but so far nobody knows why exactly it works for them.

I don't have a link (I'm Windows, not Mac) but I have seen mention of installing an OLD version of Java to make old programs work with your new operating system

    Hello kglad,

It does not solve the problem. Here are the observations:

    When I do

    (1) Command+ Option+ Shift and open illustrator, it also crashes.

    (2) When I go to Library/ Preferences/ Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings/ en_GB, the directory is empty.

    Any further ideas ?

In Windows, the Application Data folder is hidden by default. To make this folder visible, open Folder Options in Control Panel and click the View tab. In the Advanced Settings pane, select the Show Hidden Files and Folders or Show hidden files, folders, or drives option.
