Illustrator CS5 crashing while using Help menu on MAC OS Sierra

I am experiencing two issues with my adobe Creative Suite 5.5:

*When I use the Wacom Tablet to draw with the free hand, the first line the I draw changes its path when I try to draw a group of separate lines close to the first one.

*When I select the HELP menu and move my cursor outside of the menu, the program automatically shuts down or crashes. This also happens when I select a color, pattern, or effect using the eyedropper tool to apply the same effect to my image.

I am using MAC OS Sierra Version 10.12.5.

Are the above issues due to the lack of compatibility? If not, what solution could you provide?

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand the Illustrator is crashing when you select Help menu and come out the menu. It is true that CS applications are discontinued and are no longer compatible with today's operating systems. I'm afraid that attempts to troubleshoot the install could result in it becoming unusable.

    • For Wacom issue, you can close all Adobe applications and try updating the Wacom driver.
    • For Illustrator crashing on the help menu, you can try resetting preferences after taking a back up of the folders:
    1. Close all Adobe applications.
    2. Go to locations
    3. ~/Library/Caches
    4. ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    5. ~/Library/Preferences
    6. Rename  Adobe Illustrator, com.adobe.illustrator and Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old, com.adobe.illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings folders.old
    7. Launch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud.

We strongly recommend upgrading your software to a newer version that is supported or downgrade the OS to the one which is supported (Older versions of Adobe Illustrator system requirements ).

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Regards,

    Srishti

This is likely to be the case. If you can use El Capitan or an older system you might have better luck.
