Illustrator deletes asset I have just dragged to Asset Export?

      Dragging all the stuff I am trying into a new file and then exporting from the new file has worked for me. Hopefully, this works for you, too.

      I just had this issue and found a workaround. Posting it here for anyone else that finds this.

       

      Copy and paste (into place, if desired) the affected assets and then delete the original. The new assets should work. I'm unsure what causes this issue.

          I sometimes find that dragging objects to the Asset Export panel, does not add them, but just moves them on the artboard.

          It looks like they have disappeared, but they are just hidden behind the Asset Export panel.

          I can reproduce this by grabbing the center mark of a shape and dragging it to the panel.

          Grabbing another area seems to work.

          Ok. On my Mac they are not moved behind the panel, but I am getting the asset deleted notification as seen on the video.

          Yes that's different.

          It just does not seem to add anything.

          But I cannot repeat that behaviour.

            I drag an asset to Asset Exports, which gets deleted by the software after couple of seconds.
