Illustrator Desaturating/Washing out the color of my shape/object

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is an intended effect of the filter and I apologize if it is. When I make a shape/object with color, it will desaturate the color to an obsurd degree. I have tried to saturate it with a the saturate feature in the edit field. I have also have tried to manually change the color but it would still be the incorrect color I was looking for. It does not look the same, so I am up for any other work-arounds or fixes.
