Illustrator does not allow you to update the links of the images, and it does not allow you to make more edits and generates an error and closes. .

Would you mind sharing more details, like the version of the OS/Illustrator installed if Illustrator behaves this way with all files, and if the files are placed on an internal/external drive or a cloud-synced folder like Google Drive/Dropbox/etc. so I can better assist you?

Thank you, the version is Illustrator 2025 and Windows 11 Home, the files that had linked images are the ones that I can no longer edit, I cannot change the images and it also crashes.

The files are all on the computer's local disk.
