Illustrator Drop down menus have no options

I learned today how to turn a stroke into a fill. It works, but after it creates this new object, all the dropdown menus from the top menus disappear.  I can still use Illustrator with shortcuts, so the program does not freeze, but there are no top menu options.  I've never seen this problem before.  Only restarting my computer brought the menu drop downs back.  When I tried the technique again, indeed, all the drop down menus again disappeared.  I'm using mac OS Sonoma 14.2.1 with AI 28.3.  Also have same issue with AI 27.91.  Please help!

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind updating the macOS to the latest version (https://adobe.ly/3P6XSFZ) to check if it helps? Also, try running Illustrator under Safe Mode (macOS) and a different administrator account (macOS) and share your observations.

If the problem persists, kindly share more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, system config (CPU/GPU/Memory), details about your exact workflow when you encounter this problem, and if Illustrator behaves this way with all files, and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/3P6XNCb), so we can investigate this further.
