Illustrator error on boot-up

I got the dreaded "Error 15:30" at Photoshop (CS 4) boot-up. Followed a few instructions and re-installed. Bingo - Photoshop works again!

I also trashed Ilustrator (CS 4) which also had error 15:30. I recovered Illustrator from Time Machine and re-booted. Only to get another error sign. "Error: 5".

Please help.

    That's never going to work. All apps must be properly re-installed for the licensing/ activation to work correctly. Pulling it from a backup is useless.
