Illustrator extremely laggy and useless on a high end PC

I haven’t used Illustrator for a while, but I’m honestly shocked at how poor the performance is.

For context: I have a relatively high-end PC (Intel 265K, 64GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3080), and I’ve had my fair share of performance issues across all Adobe apps.

• Premiere has improved to a somewhat usable state.
• Lightroom is still laggy - I have to disable GPU acceleration to make it usable.
• Photoshop works, but it takes around 2 minutes to fully boot, during which I can’t click anything.

But Illustrator is on a completely different level.

Zooming is basically unusable. You do it once and commit, because it can take up to a minute to actually respond. If you zoom in and out a few times, you might as well go grab a coffee - and when you come back, maybe it’s done. If not, the viewport will keep jumping and you’ll just end up misclicking everything.

What’s most frustrating is that this doesn’t feel like a hardware limitation at all. It feels like these apps are built on an ancient architecture with layers upon layers of new features patched on top, instead of focusing on stability, performance, and a clean user experience.

Adobe why is this acceptable? Why are you charging premium prices for software that feels laggy, unstable, and outdated in terms of performance?

At this point, it’s becoming very difficult to rely on your tools for professional work.

PS: I’ve already tried all the “recommended” performance fixes: GPU settings, preferences, cache, drivers, etc. Nothing changes. The experience is exactly the same.
