Après la mise à jour Illustrator 29.6 sur windows, Illustrator se fige et plante après quelques minutes d'utilisation. A noter j'ai eu le même problème après la mise à jour IN Design : In Design se fige et plante.

Translation : After updating Illustrator to 29.6 on Windows, Illustrator freezes and crashes after a few minutes of use. Note: I had the same problem after updating IN Design: In Design freezes and crashes.

Hi @MONSIEUR5C34,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm really sorry to hear Illustrator is freezing and crashing after the 29.6 update.

To help us investigate this better, could you please confirm the exact version of Windows you're using, whether it's Windows 10 or 11? Also, does the crash happen right when launching Illustrator from the app icon, or only after opening a specific file?

I couldn't find any crash reports submitted under the email address linked to your community account. If possible, please submit a crash report the next time this happens and let me know via DM what email address you used while submitting it, so I can locate the logs and get this checked with the product team. Additionally, please try the troubleshooting steps mentioned in this article and let me know if they help:

Looking forward to your update.

Hi Rao Abhishek, I'm using Windows 10 Pro. The crash occurs in both cases: new document or existing document. GEforce 40 series card, Intel i7-13700KF 3.40 GHz. There is no crash report because Illustrator (and In Design) freezes indefinitely. I have to force quit it from Task Manager. For the moment I have reverted to the previous versions.

Hi @MONSIEUR5C34,

Thanks again for the details, and I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with these freezes in both Illustrator and InDesign.

I'd recommend testing the issue once in Windows Safe Mode to rule out background apps or services that might be interfering. You can follow the steps here: Start your PC in safe mode.

Additionally, please try creating and testing the apps in a new local admin user profile as this helps determine if the issue is tied to any user-specific settings or permissions. Reference: Manage user accounts in Windows.

Also, since you're using a GeForce 40 series card, it might help to update your GPU driver directly from the NVIDIA website, even if Windows says you're already up to date. And if you've already done that, try disabling GPU Performance under Preferences > Performance in both Illustrator and InDesign to see if that helps avoid the freezing.

Let me know how it goes after these checks. I'll be here to assist further based on what you find.

Looking forward to your update!

Abhishek
