Illustrator freezes when I open new doc or preexisting doc.

When I create a new document or open a document I already have, I can't interact with anything in Illustrator at all. Not the tools, the items on the page, nothing. When I am in the home menu, Illustrator works and I can do things like select create new doc or go into the preferences. I just can't do anything when a new or previous doc opens. Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro have been working fine and Illustrator was fine not a week ago. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Illustrator. I tried new and old versions of it. I checked for updates and there were none. I restarted my PC. I don't know what to do. I'm stressed because I have important files in Illustrator for my job. I'm stumped on what to try next. Thanks in advance.

@mintyzebra in my last post, I thought the previous person had already did this, and didn’t and it fix their issue. Clear Illustrator Preferences. If you open your Illustrator Preferences (Command K for the MAC) or Control K (for the PC) — there should be a button that says ‘reset preferences’ (can’t place an image for some weird reason!). Go ahead and click on that.

It will reset everything back to it’s default just as you brand new Illustrator so any custom set-ups will be gone (save that if you do to save some time setting up)
