Illustrator freezes when moving objects

We recently updated our computer and the Adobe Cloud Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign but are experincing issue in Illustrator when trying to move objects when selecting the object and trying to drag the obeject to a different location and the computer freezes and then the object doesn't move.

We are sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. I would like to know if resetting preferences as suggested by @marliton helps or not. If not, I would request you to share a few details:

  • The exact version of OS & Illustrator
  • Does Ai freeze while working on a specific file or particular type of object?
  • Please share a small screen recording demonstrating the issue.
  • Please check you are in Normal mode and GPU performance is turned on from the Illustrator preferences.
  • Where are you saving the files (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System/ External HDD)?
  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, plugins, or web extensions installed recently.
