Question

Illustrator guides are too "thin" - hardly visible

Hello.  Illustrator guides are now too "thin" - hardly visible. I switched to lines, which incidentally makes my detail work too complicated, and different colors.  Is there any way to "thicken" the guidelines?  I liked the old guidelines much better.

Mac Studio, Illustrator 28.7.1

Fun Note: I started with Illustrator #2 or 3

I think I found a fix. I was working with the UI set to the smallest size and the guides were tiny and near impossible to see. I changed the scale to the next bigger size and the guides scaled up, back to normal. I then changed the UI back to the smallest size and the guides stayed normal.

Certainly not the most gratifying advice, but dotted guides are displayed more stout when you turn on the CPU preview in the View menu (instead of GPU preview).

Hello Anubhav, I tried to reply to your post but that option is greyed out. I moved on to: "Illustrator (Desktop) Feature Requests" and tried to post: "The older version guides were prominent while not intrusive- the dots were, to me, the perfect size. A preference to set size of dot, dash, line and color would be nice and well appreciated," but it would not accept the password for Adobe (and I was already signed in). I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

What display resolution is the monitor you're using? Is it something ultra high res, such as 3840x2160 or something similar? I use a couple of Windows PCs; my 17" notebook has a 120Hz UHD display. In Windows' settings I had to experiment with the UI scaling features to ensure tools, icons, etc weren't microscopic in size on such a display. I imagine Mac OSX must have similar settings. But I don't know if that would have any effect on the guideline size displayed in Illustrator. It could be worth trying though.

With the MacStudio I use a BenQ PD2705U 1920 x 1080; 60 Hertz. I also have two iMacs, and I had no issues with older Illustrator versions. I am sending a blow-up of guides in action. In actual size, the guides to me are hardly visible.
