Illustrator Guides causing Copy/Paste Crash?

For some odd reason, Illustrator has started to crash when I copy and paste guides in the last few days. Nothing comes up in the compatibility report. I have 15.8 GB of RAM and 379 GB of storage available. I removed all the recently installed fonts and extensions and reinstalled Creative Cloud. But I still can't figure out the cause.

 

I've also recreated the event on a blank document in 27 and 26, so I know it's not my working file. If anyone knows the solution or has any suggestions, I'd be more than appreciative. At this point, I'm out of spoons.

    The action corrected itself on my PC when I updated it to Illustrator v28 last week. I'm guessing it was an odd glitch in Illustrator. Hopefully, it doesn't come up again.

    I am having this issue and I believe it is due to RayCast on MacOS, likely the clipboard manager

    I'm having the same issue. Reinstalled Illustrator and updated to latest version as I'd already rolled it back a few versions to sort a different problem (I can't even remember which, there are so many these days).

     

    Every time I copy a guide, it crashes. New files, old files, small files, large files - it doesn't matter. It's very annoying.

    PC - Dell XPS, 32gb RAM. Windows 11.

    Could it be that some other software interferes with your clipboard?

     

    Probably one of these, but others might do it as well:

    • Parallels Toolbox running with the Clipboard History
    • TeamVewer Clipboard > Use Shared Clipboard
    • Apple iOS device simulator from Xcode
    • Windows Multi-clipboard
    • Windows Clipboard History
    • Chrome Remote Desktop
    • Mouse Pointer Highlighter
    • AnyViewer
    • Pastebot app
    • Overzealous antivirus (Digital Guardian) as well as viruses that empty the clipboard

    I am experiencing the same problem recently on a brand new PC. Everything is up to date too. As soon as I copy a guide, Illustrator crashes..

    You say that this behavior has occurred only recently. Have you updated your operating system or Illustrator? If you're on a Macintosh and you've updated to Sonoma then you should know that Creative Cloud programs are not at this time fully compatible with the new Mac OS. If this is the case for you then that could be the cause of your problems.

    No, The entire app freezes and crashes.
