illustrator has started getting stuck opening a template

I'm running on 10.15.4  on am Imac, had no problems until recently, tried unistalling and reinstalling without success. I recent started using suitcase fusion could that be the problem?

Then maybe a corrupt font can be the issue. Fontbook can analyze your fonts.

Does it work when you uninstall Suitcase?

Just unistalled Suitcase didn't make any difference, noticed fontbook was getting stuck on validating fonts so reinstalled the system (not to Big Sur I have too many music plugins which are not vet compatible), working now but very slowly!
