Illustrator Home Screen freeze on MAC M4 Max Sequoia 15.5

Hi,

I have this weird problem. Home Screen freezes. I can hoover on anything and the buttons change colours. But clicks are unresponsive. Also on the new document screen.

The only fix that works is to turn on the legacy "file new" document in preferences. Not a cool fix but it works.

I have used the Adobe Clean-up app tool and I have reset preferences many times. No effect.

Anyone have a bet on a fix for this issue?

Hi Abhishek, The deletion of the UXP worked for 2-3 clicks then it kinda falled back into the dark clicks.

However, I changed from my xencelabs tablet to a mouse and then everything worked out as intended.
I then reached out to Xencelabs and they are working on an update to their driver. Got the beta and it works as a dream.
So, all in all is turned out to be the tablet being the issue.

Thanks for your bug hunt receipe

Hi @bennyt25380540,

Thanks for sharing the details. I know how annoying it must be to deal with an unresponsive Home screen.

Could you first please test the issue in Safe Mode and in a new admin local user account to help isolate any user-specific or system-specific conflicts? Here are the references:
https://adobe.ly/44WPrW8
https://adobe.ly/4lFzwB4

Once you've tried that and the issue persists, please also confirm the exact version of Illustrator you're currently using (you'll find it under Illustrator > About Illustrator).

Also, please try renaming the CEP and UXP folders, as this often helps resolve UI-related freezing issues.

Rename the CEP folder to CEP.old in this location:
MAC: /Library/Application Support/Adobe

If that doesn't help, rename the UXP folder to UXP.old in these locations:
MAC: /Library/Application Support/Adobe
MAC: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe

Once done, please restart Illustrator and let me know if the issue persists.

Looking forward to your update.

Abhishek
