Illustrator: How to style the numbers in a numbered list to be different from body text.

In Illustrator, I created a numbered list, and I'd like the numbers to stand out much more than they do. It seems that the numbers always inherit the style of the text.

I couldn't find out how to style the list numbers separately from the text in any of the Adobe Support pages - ironically, the support pages all had list numbers styled much differently - big black circles and white numbers! (see attached screen grab).

I'd settle for numbers in Extra Bold while the text remains Regular.

There are bumpy workarounds that require to insert a thin space or a hair space before the regular text and apply the extra bold attribute to the spaces.

It's a wonky approach in general and especially if you have to change the list afterwards.

Half-baked feature so far.
