Question

Illustrator is freezing every time

Hello, I've been using Adobe Illustrator for years, and I often work with it alongside Photoshop, copying some vectors and pasting them into my Photoshop projects. This has always worked very smoothly and quickly, but I feel that in the latest versions, when I open Illustrator, it seems like everything starts to freeze, it becomes very slow, and I don't think it's an issue with my PC or anything like that because even when I had a less powerful processor and less RAM, this all worked fine.

I request that you pay attention to this issue because it's becoming increasingly difficult to work with Illustrator while another Adobe program is open. If I open Photoshop and Premiere, it works fine. If I open Photoshop and After Effects, everything is okay too. Clearly, the problem lies with Illustrator.

My PC Setup:
Gigabyte B450M DS3H Socket AM4
AMD Ryzen 9 3900 3.1 ghz
Galax Geforce RTX 2060
2x16GB DDR4 Hyperx Fury 3200mhz

Hello @Bruno31544169ekw1,

We understand how frustrating it can be to encounter performance issues while working in Illustrator. Would you mind trying the suggestions shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-illustrator-performance.html) and checking if it helps?

Also, try to manually reset Illustrator's preferences and share your observations:

- Close all Adobe applications.

- Go to Location C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe

- Rename Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 27 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator - 27 Settings.old

- Relaunch Illustrator from Creative Cloud

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders in case you want to. The location is mentioned above.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
