Hi everyone,

So I've been trying to cut out these logos with the shape builder tool. I'm almost finished, but everything is so slow I am loosing it. What am I doing wrong? Is there an easier way to do this that I don't know? each shape I erase takes at least 3 minutes to load through. The dark blue is the shape I am cutting from. its ment to be a screen layer for a t-shirt print.

Thanks for your time,

Michelle

Hi! so sorry I just saw your reply, Im trying to remember how I resolved the problem. I did some kind of crazy work around where I started over and made it work. In anycase , I am working on a Mac Book air Sanoma 14 and using whatever the latest version of adobe products is. as I am on cloud.  I think the file is being held in my icloud and in my doc file on my computer.   I noticed the issue just starting with this project. the shapes were sort of complex I guess, but I think I assembled it incorrectly maybe?  Thanks for you help, I'll look more often to see if you have answered back.

All the best,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I'm really sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing. Performance issues can be incredibly frustrating, especially when they disrupt your creative flow. There are multiple reasons that could cause application performance issues, some of them are mentioned on this page, please take a look. File complexity is definitely one of them, but taking three minutes to erase an artwork is definitely not acceptable. To better understand what's going on, could you please provide a bit more information?

  • What operating system and version of Illustrator are you using?
  • Is this issue happening with a specific file, or have you noticed it with new files as well?
  • Are you working with a cloud document?
  • When did you first start noticing this issue? Was it after a recent update or after installing any third-party applications?

Understanding these details will help us pinpoint the cause and find a solution more quickly. Your experience is important to us, and we're here to assist you in resolving this. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Regards,

Srishti
