Illustrator is not loading properly / via windows 8 64bit

Illustrator 2017 will not load properly when I start a new project or when I try to work on an old project. How can I get an older version that will work with my machine? Creative cloud will only allow me to download the latest version. I have uninstalled and installed several times, all to no avail. I am using a windows 8 machine 64bit processor. This is not windows 8.1. Please help as I am getting desperate because of unfinished projects and I really don't have time to resolve software issues, I just need the old version so I can finish my work.

      After downloading AI 2015.3 and installing, I am still experiencing the same thing !! So, the action of downloading other versions is correct, however the application still isn't operating properly. Note: I do not experience this with any other CC applications, like Photoshop, Dreamweaver or Premier Pro to name a few, only Illustrator. It seems as though the application is stuck in some kind of infinite loop and will not finish loading when any new project is started or I open an existing project. Can anyone please help me as I just don't have time to spend on resolving this issue and I'm seriously considering replacing Illustrator with Autodesk !!! Thanx, Mr. Ed
