Illustrator keeps crashing when saving files using pattern swatches

Hi illustrator keeps crashing or not responding each time i try and save files, when using patterns from the swatch panel. It never use to do this. I was copying and pasting patterns from one file and putting into another larger file. was fine with first initial saves. then crashing started. ive reset preferences, ive tried saving directly to desktop, ive resaved under a new file name, ive even thought it was the copying and pasting that might have caused this, so i then saved the swatches to the library and opened them in the required file and used them that way. But it still kept crashing. I dont understand why. I really need all these swatches to work . Ive spent hours creating them. Can i send the files for checking. Is there a non public email? Appreciate any help.

Hello @shanice24820425yiyc,

We understand how frustrating it can be to experience crashes. Would you mind trying the suggestions shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/fix-crash-on-launch-issues.html) and checking if it helps?

Also, kindly share the crash report using the steps in this article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/crash-next-steps.html) and use the same email account as your community account for quick tracking. We appreciate your time and efforts in resolving this issue.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
Anubhav

Hi Anubhav I've tried most of those things except the cloud cleaner. I've been experiencing my artboard being cut up. So I've reset preferences many times and then downloaded the illustrator version before the latest version. Each time I save any files it now says "converting text objects with variable fonts and coloured. "What does this mean ? Why is it saying this now each time I save.

What version of OS & Illustrator are you using? Make sure your application and OS are compatible with each other. When posting please include that information, as that helps us to be able to help you.

Illustrator system requirements | earlier releases

You are using a variable font. Those fonts has extra features others do not.

The OOBE is referenced during saves and may have been corrupted.

OOBE RESET MAC

  1. Quit the Creative Cloud desktop app  (100% you must do this)
  2. The \Users\<user folder>\Library\ is hidden by default for macOS 10.7 and above. Option click on the GO in the mac finder to reveal the Library folder.
  3. /Users/<user folder>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
  4. Delete all the files within the OOBE folder, but do not delete the folder itself.

OOBE RESET WIN

Quit the Creative Cloud desktop app  (100% you must do this)

C:\Users\<user folder>\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE

The AppData folder is hidden in Windows by default. See Show hidden files, folders, filename extensions | Windows for instructions to access it.

Delete all the files within the OOBE folder, but do not delete the folder itself.

Restart the computer and launch the Creative Cloud desktop app again.

hi Ton ive sent another email today with more files. i actually think it could be a bug with the pattern tool. As today a filled square with a pattern when moved across the artboard would change its contents and other times when moved it wouldnt change its contents.
