Question

Illustrator keeps freezing - I'm on free trial

I'm using the free trial to test Illustrator. I'm on a Mac Pro -

Illustrator freezes and I have to force quit when I try to:

1) save a pattern as a swatch - almost every time

2) delete a swatch - almost every time

3) export as jpg at 300dpi - every time

I've googled and tried unchecking GPU and resetting preferences -

Is this a common problem?

If so is there an easy fix?

If it keeps happening I may have to delete before my subscription kicks in.

    Hello @HelenLord

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. I hope the problem is resolved by now. If not, could you try the suggestions shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-illustrator-performance.html) and checking if it helps?

If the problem persists, please share the following information to be able to help you with this scenario:

    For macOS computers:
    1) AISniffer file
    - Close all Adobe applications
    - Navigate to the Illustrator Preferences folder and copy the AiSniffer file to the desktop from this location: Users/YOUR USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator #(version Number) Settings > AISniffer

    2) System Report
    - You can generate it from the Apple icon > About This Mac > System Report > Save to the desktop.

    For Windows computers:
    1. AiSniffer file:
    - Close all Adobe applications.
    - Navigate to the Illustrator Preferences folder and copy the AiSniffer file to the desktop from this location:
    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 30 Settings\en_US\x64\

    2. For the System Report, kindly follow these steps:
    - Please press Windows Key + the letter "R" on your keyboard to bring up the Run command window
    - Type "msinfo32" in the Open field and left-click OK
    - While viewing the Microsoft System Information summary, go to File, then choose Save (Please do not use Export)
    - Save your MSINFO32 report as "msinfo32.nfo" on your desktop to easily locate it later. It can take up to a minute to generate a report.

Kindly upload the files along with a brief screen recording to Google Drive/Dropbox/etc and share a public link here or via DM so that we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Anubhav

@HelenLord How much memory does your Mac have? Which  System? Are there more apps running at the same time?

Thankd Helen, that seems more than enoug memory to run Illustrator. Did you restart your machine after resetting Preferences? And see if Excel and Explorer a causing trouble by using only Illustrator?
