Illustrator Keeps Quitting

My Illustrator keeps quitting. When I open it up again, it says that it is running in "Safe Mode" and has disabled a Plug-in.

I have searched my computer high and low to find the Plug-in: Flatten Transparency to delete it and cannot find it. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this issue and not be in "safe mode" so that I can get some work done?

    Hi Sarah,

Sorry to see that you are facing issues with Illustrator crash. Looking at the error, it seems to be a corrupt or incomplete installation. You should try resetting the preferences first, then restart the computer and re launch Illustrator. If the issue still persists, a clean installation will be recommended in this case. Please check the links below for details:

What operating system are you on? On the mac if you right click on your application  flatten transparency is here

    \Applications\Adobe Illustrator CC 2017\Adobe Illustrator.app\Contents\Required\Plug-ins\FlattenTransparency.aip

Do you have any modifcations or plug ins installed to your OS or Illustrator. If you do not then you may have a corrupted preference and suggest a more thorough approach than the standard one.

    More Thorough Reset Your Preferences.

    Quit Illustrator

    Finder >> Shift Command G

    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator 21 Settings/en_US*/Adobe Illustrator Prefs

rename Adobe Illustrator 21 to Adobe Illustrator 21 old

    Reset Your Other Preferences

    Quit Illustrator

    Finder >> Shift Command G

    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator 21/

rename Adobe Illustrator 21 to Adobe Illustrator 21 old

Press Win+R -> appdata -> Roaming -> Adobe -> rename folder Adobe Illustrator 20 (or 21) Settings to any other name.

Otherwise you will need to use the Adobe Cleaner to uninstall, and then reinstall.
