Illustrator makes shapes in greyscale but shows text as the proper color.

I'm trying to make a graphic with 2 colors in it. It allows me to make the text the color I need, but when I try to make a shape a color, it displays in greyscale. When I check the hex code for the fill, it's the color I want, but it shows as grey. How do I fix this ??
