Illustrator Malfunctioning

Hi all, I'm experiencing an issue with illustrator where whenever I move an object or do any editing, a series of grey rectangles follows the cursors movement. This is extremely frustrating and is severely limiting my ability to work on illustrator. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
