Question

Illustrator not displaying Lushootseed (a native american) dialect non-english symbols correctly

I have to make vector files using Lushootseed (a native american dialect) when I use ms word to type the symbols I get čšx̌ƛ̓łłᶻʷ̌ all displaying correctly, when I use photoshop I get the same thing, when I use illustrator, it does not display the little hats on the letters.

I have made sure i am using the same font and that the font description states that it supports these characters.

For now i am copy and pasting in from word and it displays correctly, but then i need to trace each letter to make vectors...

I would like to just use the text tool and type like I can in photoshop and have the font display correctly.

Hi @Jeremy28462429830w,

I understand the frustration of not being able to use the text tool in Illustrator to create vector files with the correct display of non-English symbols.

This issue may be related to the font settings in Illustrator. I recommend checking the font/ type settings in Illustrator and matching it with Photoshop.

If the issue persists, please try copying and pasting the text from Word/ photoshop into Illustrator and then creating outlines for the text from the Type menu. This will allow you to create vectors without having to trace each letter. Also, you can use a Lushootseed Unicode keyboard to type directly or use the glyphs panel from the Type menu to enter the Lushootseed characters you want.

I hope this helps!

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Best,

Anshul Saini
