Illustrator: Objects not selected after Paste/Paste In Place

Hi all,

I recently have gotten the issue that after I copy and paste in place (as well as a typical copy and paste) when the paste happens, the objects are no longer automatically selected. It used to work before, but now when pasting, it does the command but doesn't show a bounding box of the newly pasted object. Bounding box has been turned on, and works once the item is selected. I am not sure if I accidently pressed off a preference or something, but this is particularly problematic when I paste in back since its blocked by the more-forward object.

Has anyone else come across this issue?

I started experiencing this problem earlier today while working in the current general release version. However, I worked on the same project file the previous night at home while using the Beta release. The issue is pretty annoying. It can be especially bad when pasting some complex art into the same layer with a lot of other stuff.

And oddly I have struggled to find anything being reported on this anywhere online... with nothing from the official channels at Adobe. Add to that the whole Pantone colour saga, font licencing issues with archived work amongst other issues. Needless to say most would prefer less Artificial Intelligence capabilities in favour of useable software that is fit for purpose.

Yes to this... incredibly disruptive to work flow when copied and pasted elements have always remained 'active' or selected when pasted previously. Now requiring work arounds to make sure elements grouped prior to copying so they can be moved easily once pasted.
